Stipends for Erasmus Mundus students

Non-Eu nationals:

Excellent students from Non-EU countries are supported in their application for an individual Erasmus Mundus stipend by the European Commission. For this kind of stipend only participants of Erasmus Mundus Masters programmes can apply. This programme is expected to be granted a pool of 19 student stipends for the 2008-10 programme, including one stipend specifically for a West Balkan citizen.

Each stipend is 42,000 euro to cover expenses for the whole two-year study programme. Please indicate in the application form for the Erasmus Mundus Masters Journalism and Media within Globalisation: The European Perspective, whether you would like to apply for an Erasmus Mundus stipend. Deadline for application is 20 January. The Board of Studies for this Erasmus Mundus Masters makes a prioritised list and organises the application to the European Commission who decides on the grants. .

Caution: Do not apply for more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses. The selection of stipend candidates is approved by the EU. Any student who is nominated by more than three EM master programs will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Definition:

Eligible beneficiaries for an Erasmus Mundus stipend: Graduate students who are nationals of a country other than those from the EU member states, EEA-EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and candidate countries for accession to the European Union (Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Turkey); who has already obtained a higher education degree; who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has been accepted to register or is registered in an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

EU-nationals:

EU nationals and nationals from EEA-EFTA states can apply for Erasmus Socrates stipends for the last year of their Masters studies. Information and assistance on the Erasmus Socrates stipends will be given at the University of Aarhus after course start. The stipend is about 200 euro per month. Furthermore, each EU country has different national stipends which may be applied for on an individual level. See this question in the Frequently Asked Question Section for more information. Furthermore, the consortium hopes to be able to support EU students for a stay abroad at Non-EU partner universities to exchange one module of the programme at either: University of California at Berkeley, USA; University of Technology Sydney, Australia - Universidad Catolica de Chile (details to be announced in Spring 2008).
